On Saturday Tairua School hosted Paddle for Humanity which is an event that they host every year. Members of the community gather at the bottom of the harbour and paddle up to the school and then there’s a celebration at the school with food, auctions, bands, and singers. All the money raised from the celebration goes to Surfaid International. This year Ziggy & Sollie Heath won a penny board for selling the most raffle ticket.
Surfaid International is a group of surfers that recognise small villages that need help around the world. This year’s fund raising went towards building a new school at Masokut village. In total an amazing $6500.00 was raised. Well done everyone for your great effort. The money will go a long way towards a new school for the children of Masokut Village.
